| INTODUCTION: |
The Department of Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy
previously known as skin & VD used to be a separate
Department from very inceptation of Medical College,
Shimla. In earlier years only one or two faculty
members were there in the department and they were
assisted by non PG Registrars as per the prevailing
conditions those days the faculty staff was deputed
on contract basis from Central Health services.
Dr. R.C. Sharma was the first regular faculty member
who joined as Asstt. Prof. in 1973 and later become
Prof. & Head subsequently Principal IGMC Shimla
and retired in 2001. Dr. N.L. Sharma was second
regular faculty member who joined as Asstt. Prof.
in 1980 and became Prof. in 2000 and retired in
October 2008. Starting Post Graduate Degree was
always on top priority of the then faculty but it
got materialized in year 2002 when permission was
granted by MCI to start PG degree in this department.
The first batch of PG degree was started in May
2003 and since then two PG students were admitted
every year till 2009. In 2010 one additional seat
of PG degree was started so we have now three PG
students every year. Till date 11 students have
passed their MD degree from the department. |
