I welcome you to IGMC website. Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla is a tertiary care teaching hospital for the state of Himachal Pradesh. Himachal Pradesh is one of the progressive states of India located in the North Western Himalayan region of India and has a population of approximately six million. IGMC is a Post Graduate Institute which was established in the year1966.

The institute shall be admitting 100 under graduate students for MBBS course every year in addition to Post Graduate students in different specialities.From 2011 the college is also admitting the students in the superspecialities. MCH students in CTVS department and DM in Cardiology department. It is one of the very few medical colleges in the Govt. sector which has excellent teaching, training and clinical facilities.The institute has full time non practicing dedicated faculty.

The facilities such as hostels for boys and girls, resident doctors and nurses are well furnished. The college library has approximately 8000 books and almost 140 journals are subscribed every year. In addition e-library facility has also been made functional. The institute provides excellent and peaceful environment for studies in the beautiful suroundings.

The 743 bedded Indira Gandhi Hospital which is attached to the college for clinical training has excellent state of the art facilities including MRI, CT scan and state of the art laboratories. The super specialities such as Cardiology and Cardiothoricic Surgery are well established providing facilities such as Cardiac Cath and Open Heart Surgery. The hospital has well established Orthopedic Centre, Regional Cancer Centre and facilities for endoscopy, bronchoscopy, urological and super specialities services are available.
